COME JOIN THE HEAT!

A comment from Sally.

Phew it's hot. Temperatures well in to the hundreds. Thank goodness for shade, a slight breeze and a cooling swimming pool. In heat like this it's hard to find the energy to do things during the heat of the day, so we tend to rise early and get jobs done, relax with a book in the afternoon, and then stay up late and enjoy the cooler temperatures.

We're in to our second week of "Special Family Holidays" for this year, which tend to be July and August. These vary from our "Gourmet Holidays" in that families come to stay, entertain themselves, and we give them breakfast and evening meals. Meals are simpler, but still good, and of course we now have the magnificent BBQ (thanks to Richard and Gordon), so a lot of BBQ'd meals our devoured by all!!

Caline (our dog) is enjoying the heat as well. For some reason she likes to sunbathe!! She lies on the boulodrome in full sunshine for about 30 minutes, then creeps in to the shade for a rest, then returns for a few more rays. Incredible!! Can you imagine sunbathing in a fur coat? She lacks energy during the day, but last night, once the temperature started to drop, she became full of life and was running around the garden like a Wippet!! Once the stars had come out I took her on a walk up the hill. The stars were magnificent, and the Milky Way was so clear you could almost see the stars being born!! Caline and I stood at the top of the hill and saw three shooting stars. It was magnificent. Apparently there will be an array tonight as well. You can't beat that!
